HIGH PERFORMANCE AWARDS

Recognizing athletes and coaches reaching for success at the highest level in 2016.

Female and Male Athlete of the Year
• Recognizes one female and one male amateur athlete excelling at provincial, national, or international sanctioned competitions.
• Contributions recognized for activities from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016

Junior Female and Male Athlete of the Year
• Recognizes one female and one male amateur athlete excelling at local, regional, school, club and/or Alberta High Schools
Athletics Association sanctioned competitions.
• Contributions recognized for activities from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

Female and Male Team of the Year
• Recognizes a team that has excelled at the provincial and/or national level at ofcially sanctioned or ratied competitions.
• Contributions recognized for activities from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

Coach of the Year
• Recognizes an NCCP certified coach coaching at the local, provincial, national, or international level at officially sanctioned
or ratified competitions.
• Contributions recognized for activities from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

COMMUNITY AWARDS

Recognizing contributions that have provided positive sport experiences in Northwest Alberta.

Developmental Coach of the Year
• Recognizes a coach responsible for developing the competitive skills of athletes participating at the grassroots level or competing at the regional or provincial level. This coach creates an environment for optimal skill development and fun and has completed or is working towards NCCP certification.
• Contributions recognized for activities from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

Outstanding Official
• Recognizes an official officiating at the local, provincial, national, or international level who has also contributed to the development of officials at the local or regional level.
• Contributions over a period of time will be considered. Nominee is still active.

Sport Builder
• Recognizes a person that demonstrates outstanding commitment and longstanding service in developing a club,
organization, or sporting event resulting in a positive, developmentally appropriate impact on coaches and athletes.
• Contributions over a period of time will be considered. Nominee is still active.

Unsung Hero
• Recognizes achievements and outstanding contribution made by a volunteer to their community or region, or to a specific sport activity, club, team, or group. This contribution has made a positive difference in the lives of others by support and
encouragement, often with self-sacrifice and without personal gain.
• Contributions over a period of time will be considered. Nominee is still active.

Sport Citizen
• Recognizes the contributions of two athletes 25 years of age or under that reflect passion, spirit, and dedication to sport by giving back to sport within their community or area as a whole. These athletes are exemplary role models and compete in their sport while making an effort to give back to the community.
• Contributions recognized for activities primarily from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

Community Spirit
• Recognizes the outstanding contribution and achievements made by a sport organization, club, team, or group in
benefiting their community and/or area as a whole in the spirit of sport and sportsmanship. The initiative can be a single
event or a long-term project or program.
• Contributions recognized for activities primarily from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.
